New to the sport
Wrestling at Forney High School
Most families arriving here have never had a wrestler. Here is the whole thing in plain language, before anyone asks you for anything.
For students and families in Forney
This guide is for families interested in the Forney High School Jackrabbits wrestling program in Forney, Texas. The parent-run booster club supports the school team. Coaches and the school confirm student eligibility and participation requirements.
Start with the coaching staff for eligibility, joining the team, required school forms and practice information. If you are new to the area, use the school website or district athletics page for official school contacts.
What wrestling actually is
One-on-one, six minutes, two athletes the same weight. There is nowhere to hide and no one to blame, which is exactly why it changes kids. Matches are decided on points or a pin, and a dual meet runs fourteen weight classes back to back.
Gear and costs
Before buying shoes, headgear or uniforms, ask the coach what is required and what gear the program provides. Confirm sizes and current costs first. Contact the booster club if you need help with team support or financial assistance.
Practice and meet information
The published season schedule lists confirmed meets and other posted events, with locations and times when available. A time marked TBA is not confirmed. Check with the coach for current practice plans, arrival times and changes before traveling.
New to wrestling
You do not need to understand the sport before asking about the team. Contact the coach about getting started and read the new-parent guide for the practical next steps.
